Out of the shadows and images into the light
—John Henry Cardinal Newman
About the Newman Seminar
The Newman Seminar is a quarterly forum of ideas and discussion on culture, society, philosophy, and theology designed to enlighten and enrich the people of the greater Kalamazoo area. Inspired by the life and writing of Victorian Catholic convert and sage, John Henry Cardinal Newman, the Newman Seminar intends to bring world-class speakers and discussions to Southwest Michigan. The seminar is presented under the aegis of St. Philip Neri House, a Roman Catholic religious community of prayer and spiritual formation. The seminar is open to people of all or no religious persuasion.
